Life is busy and sometimes we get overwhelmed with being an adult and the responsibilities it asks of us. We can get paralysed, unable to move on from a specific incident or trauma and/or find ourselves having drowned in the 'everyday' and forgotten our dreams for the future. Alternatively we can be plagued by the repeat of negative patterns or experience deep shame and a lack of self-worth that stops us from believing we are worth the happiness we ALL deserve.

Whatever you are experiencing, if your emotions are manifesting in unhelpful thoughts and behaviours that impact your confidence and wellbeing, in turn preventing your happiness, please know you are not alone. There are a number of coping mechanisms we humans undertake to survive our way through life and its stresses - and however you are suffering, you don't have to - it is within your control.

Through talking and exploring emotions in a safe and supportive space, we can work to understand how learned habits, stale relationships and negative mindsets are no longer any use to you. Instead, we can discover new ways to manage, help you gain a fresh perspective and in turn, love yourself.

It wasn't always a happy one...

As a coach and therapist and having practised Buddhism for over 15 years, I have undertaken the journey of changing my own emotional landscape and in turn, transformed my relationship patterns from toxic to now happily married for 15 years in. But it didn't always look like this and I would never have previously believed possible to feel how I do today.
My personal journey combined with professional training in both wellness and confidence coaching, a Level 4 in psychodynamic counselling and more recently a Level 5 in relationship and relationship counselling too, enables me to provide professional boundaries, emotional safety and a wide range of theories and knowledge to support you on your own path of becoming happy.

Back in 2009...

I sought help from a professional for the first time in my 20s when I was finally ready to confront why I wasn't happy. I had been practising Nichiren Daishonin Buddhism (a very Western version of Buddhism) for a couple of years, and this teaches us that our lives are within our control and we must put our own happiness first. We cannot help others to be happy, if we ourselves aren't happy. But at this point, my happiness didn't feel in my control.

I uncovered and overcame deep rooted issues, learnt my defence mechanisms and the negative patterns they led to, and transformed rigid mindsets that no longer helped me. I recognised my contribution to, as well as my lack of boundaries within, unhealthy relationships. And finally I rediscovered what my understanding of actual love is, and not what it had come to look and feel like in an attempt to get my own selfish needs met. I learnt how to make myself happy instead of looking to others and/or substances that provided brief escapism but failed to offer internal peace.

Through self-discovery, I transformed my life and relationships and what I expect from them. I am now in a happy, healthy relationship of 14 years which is something I never thought I would or could be - but make no mistake, its not without continued effort.

There is no 'one size fits all' approach and by no means is yours going to be the same as mine. I love working with people to discover everyone's different interpretations of the world. If we work together, I will provide you with a safe and trusting environment to explore your relationship, both with yourself and others, improve self-confidence, and build a life you love living.
What to Expect...
Here's how it works...

In the first instance you can message, email or call me and I will endeavour to be in touch asap. We can book an online no-obligation session for 50 minutes to determine whether we are a good match to work together. You can then have some time to think and decide whether I am the counsellor you wish to work with.

If you do wish to proceed, I will ask you to engage in a weekly appointment which if you're anything like me might be met with some resistance, this is normal. When I requested a session every other week, my therapist rightly asked me why I wasn't prioritising my happiness.

​I know it can feel scary - remember, I've been where you are now - but I am open and friendly, and will make you feel at ease. It is 100 per cent confidential and while the journey at times can be hard and uncomfortable, there is nothing to be afraid of. In fact, if you can - allow yourself a deep breath and be excited, because should you choose me or someone else, counselling really could be the first step to creating the life, mindset or internal peace you want. Do it - believe in yourself, you got this!
